The S-Bahn is the suburban railway system of the Zurich metropolitan area. The S-Bahn has a route network of 380 kilometers, 171 stations, 9 Underground stations, 30 lines and 400`000 travelers per day. It is Switzerland's largest and most used suburban rail system.
Service:
The S-Bahn normally runs every fifteen minutes. In downtown superimpose several lines,
so every 2 to 5 minutes will come a train. Some peripheral lying suburubs are connected with express trains to the city center.
The S-Bahn runs from 5 clock in the morning to about 1 clock at night. On weekends there is a night- time network with connections every houre.
S-Bahn Network Zurich
The moste important hub for the S-Bahn is Zurich main Station (Zürich HB) 18 Lines serve this station. Zurich HB has also many Tramway and Bus connections. Its the biggest station in Switzerland.
The station Stadelhofen is served by 11 lines and is also very important for the S-Bahn system.
Other important stations in the network are Örlikon, Hardbrücke, Altstetten, Enge and Zurich Airport.
